Ode To Sad Endings and Happy Beginnings

Hey world, yesterday I went out for a run in the woods and was struck with inspiration.

I ran out into a dappled wood,
Looking for the truth.
My crunching steps halted when I came to the river.
I stopped, held my breath.
The usually shadowy woods were transformed,
A glimmering, fluid blanket of blinking patches of sunlight
Were displayed before me.
I realised then,
That the forest had a heartbeat,
It too takes in air, and breathes.
The trees seemed at peace now.
This is a season of sad endings, and
happy beginnings.
I went and lay on the cold earth and looked up at the clouds,
Drifting across the treetops writing out our names, the wind
Trailing its quick fingers over my forehead, in my hair.
And the trees roared out in triumph
As I smiled up at that intricate canopy under which so
Many dreams still found shelter.
I think I heard your voice on the breeze,
Some gold things do stay.
